Therapy

What is CranioSacral Therapy?

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive modality that seeks to find and treat restrictions throughout the body systems.

Restrictions within the CranioSacral system can lead to tension patterns, restrictions or affect the functioning of all bodily systems including the musculoskeletal, endocrine, cardio-respiratory, gastrointestinal, lymphatic, immune and reproductive systems.

How does CranioSacral Therapy work?

Through various assessment tools, your CranioSacral Therapist can globally assess your body and CranioSacral system and find the “primary” restrictions or “root causes” of issues.

Over time our body may compensate around particular restrictions in order to keep us functioning well.  When the body can no longer compensate or the restrictions are so great that it overcomes the body’s compensatory strategies, symptoms occur.

SomatoEmotional Release

A natural progression of CranioSacral Therapy is a process called SomatoEmotional ® Release (SER).  At times of high stress or emotional sensitivity the body may retain the imprint of emotion in the tissues of the body.

SomatoEmotional Release is a process of assisting the body in integrating these emotions.  Your CranioSacral Therapist may incorporate tools such as therapeutic imagery and dialogue to assist in this process

Erin Riley - Director

certlogo_200

Erin is a career Physiotherapist and International Lecturer. Erin received her undergraduate training through the University of South Australia where she completed a Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy.  Her postgraduate training has been through the Upledger Institute where she is a Diplomate Certified CranioSacral Therapist.  She has travelled worldwide for additional manual therapy training.  Although trained in a variety of modalities, Erin is most known for her work and teaching in CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute International, where she teaches multiple levels of the modality, is a certification examiner, and is a clinical mentor.

Erin has worked in private clinical practice as both a Physiotherapist and Integrated Therapist throughout the Northern Territory, Queensland and South Australia. As a new graduate, Erin gained experience in a clinic specialising in Acupuncture and this sparked her passion for thinking outside of the box. Erin currently has a home base in Adelaide, Australia where she is the Director of Evolve Manual Therapy.  Erin also has a part-time practice in Melbourne, Australia where she consults on a regular basis.

Prior to becoming a Physiotherapist, Erin had extensive experience working with children in an aquatic therapy and skill acquisition capacity. This work continues to inform her clinical practice with children and infants now.

In her role for the Upledger Institute International Erin travels worldwide to deliver postgraduate education to therapists.  This work has taken Erin throughout New Zealand, Asia, America and Scandinavia.  While on the road, Erin also regularly acts as a consultant therapist on complex client cases and mentors advanced students.

Erin has a particular interest in the mind-body connection and has been a keen student of Psychosynthesis for many years. This informs her integrated approach to manual medicine where she is particularly interested in the role of emotion and stress in chronic and complex pain and dysfunction. Her philosophy is one of facilitating the bodies own self-correcting mechanisms. Through this her clients gain awareness and understanding of their own bodies and psyches. Thus empowering them to be able to have an active and creative role in their own health and well-being.

Lynda Mitchell – Consultant

Lynda Mitchell holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage and has completed further post-graduate training in CranioSacral Therapy.  Lynda has vast experience within the health industry having run a successful private practice for the past 5 years as well as holding qualifications in fitness and personal training.

After 20 years in the health and fitness industry, Lynda continues to expand her knowledge and skills to incorporate different health, well-being and bodywork approaches with the aim of overall bodymindspirit wellness.  CranioSacral Therapy was the “fit” she was looking for that could address more than working with just physical symptoms and expand into a more global, client centred approach.  The catalyst for Lynda’s training in CranioSacral Therapy was after seeing first hand the remarkable and profound benefits for her Son.

Lynda is a vibrant and positive addition to the Evolve team and looks forward to sharing the many benefits of CranioSacral Therapy to promote and support your overall health, wellbeing and balance.  As part of her role at Evolve Manual Therapy Lynda looks forward to continuing to expand her training and knowledge of Upledger CranioSacral Therapy.
